Line Measure Logs

A maintenance log is generated for every Line Measure Tool test. Below is an example of a typical test log:

The first line of the log identifies the

For Line Quality Tests, the following information is provided:

Data

Description

ERL

Minimum Echo Return Loss ( ERL) measured on the line

Impedance

Recommended impedance setting for optimal voice quality

Comment A

Identifies anomalies detected when optimizing impedance. Typically not present.

Level

Measured loss on the line

Length

Recommended length setting for optimal voice quality

Comment B

Identifies anomalies detected when optimizing length

Color

An assessment of the overall quality of the line (GREEN, YELLOW, RED).

  • GREEN indicates low possibility of echo on the line

  • YELLOW indicates possibility of echo is moderate

  • RED indicates high  possibility of echo

  • If a line is assessed a RED rating, contact the local CO and request a line change.
